Keniebi Okoko's death shocked me - Gov. Diri 

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, said he received the news of the sudden demise of Pastor Keniebi Okoko with great shock and pain. In a statement by his chief press secretary, Daniel Alabrah,Governor Diri, described the late 42-year-old Okoko as an Ijaw icon, pillar and astute businessman, said Bayelsa, the Ijaw nation and indeed Nigeria has lost a man with great potential whose philanthropism and impact as a young politician will be greatly missed. The son of the former President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) and former lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Kimse Okoko, died on Tuesday at a private hospital in Lagos. COVID-19: UN PEACE AMBASSADOR DOLES OUT N1m PALLIATIVE

--- COMMENDS BAYELSA GOVT EFFORTS AT CURTAILING PANDEMICS  A United Nations Peace Ambassador and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Arc Miebi Bribena has released N1m as palliative measure to cushion the effect of COVID-19 and lockdown policy of the government on the people of Bayelsa state. Arc Bribena said the released fund was in support of the different measures put in place by the Gov. Douye Diri led administration at ameliorating the suffering of the people. It will be recalled that Bayelsa state remains one of the few states in the Country yet to be affected by the pandemics. Breaking: Warri South Council, Police Seal - Up Building Where COVID - 19 Fatality Was First Admitted* Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report that the building occupying the clinic where the COVID - 19 positive patient who died yesterday, was first admitted, has just been sealed up by authorities of Warri South Local Government Council in concert with the police at A Division Warri. The clinic, Gifted Hands Clinic & Maternity at Ugbori, off Ekurede Itsekiri Road in Warri, was sealed up by the council authority, the police led by the DPO of A Division, Onyeke Ezekiel and some community leaders. COVID-19: BAYELSA GOVT BARS LG CHAIRMEN FROM OBTAINING, SERVICING LOANS

Bayelsa State Government says it has directed local government council chairmen to stop obtaining or servicing loans in the meantime to enable them save for the rainy day. The state Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence EWHRUDJAKPO disclosed this at a meeting with heads of local government administration, treasurers, directors of finance and coordinators of primary healthcare in the eight local councils of the state. Senator Ewhrudjakpo in a statement by his media aide, Mr Doubara Atasi, said the directive has become imperative in view of the unjustifiable rationale behind most of the loans already secured by some councils in the state. The deputy Governor who supervises local governments in the state, also explained that the move was aimed at preparing councils for the impending economic recession that may follow the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.
