Restructuring: Okowa hails Dickson

… As Bayelsa Governor Commissions Projects in Delta State

Bayelsa State Governor, Honourable Seriake Dickson on Tuesday, called on the people of Delta State to mobilize support for their governor and the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) towards ensuring victory for the party at the 2019 general election.

Governor Dickson, who made the call while commissioning projects in Delta State, expressed appreciation to the people for their abiding support to the PDP governors on their efforts, towards ensuring an egalitarian and restructured Nigeria.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Francis Ottah Agbo, quoted Governor Dickson describing Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as one of the most experienced and performing governors, who has served his people beyond expectation.

According to him, Dr. Okowa’s exemplary leadership was as a result of the experience he has garnered in his political career, which has increased his capacity to execute “life-changing and people-oriented projects, enthrone prudent management of resources and stability of the state.”

Governor Dickson noted that, the Dr. Okowa administration has worked diligently to impact positively on the lives of the people in the midst of the recession, when he assumed office, assuring that, he would do more if re-elected for a second term.

Describing the former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori as a political leader in the Niger Delta, and one of the patrons of restructuring, the Governor acknowledged the critical role he played in championing the cause of resource control while in office.

His words:”Thank you all for acknowledging what my colleague and I are doing in terms of voicing out our collective position on restructuring and devolution of powers in the country. All of us in the Niger Delta look up to Chief James Ibori as our leader who was one of the patrons of resource control.

“Your Governor (Okowa) has tried; he is one of the performing governors and he is a good man. You have a shinning star and experience in Governor Okowa. Your governor is a man of many titles. He and i share the same title of Ekwueme, meaning one who fulfils his promise.

“In spite of all he is doing, he still wants to do more. Our country had been in a recession, one of the worst in the past 30 years. All states are struggling to meet up their normal recurrent obligations. If in a recession, you are doing all of these, we know that your second term will be far better.”

Earlier in his remarks, Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa expressed gratitude to Governor Dickson for honouring his invitation to commission projects in the state. He eulogises Governor Dickson’s leadership quality and commended him for putting Bayelsa State on the path of development. Senator Okowa also described Governor Dickson as a champion of Restructuring and a courageous leader, leading other governors in the battle to ensure that Nigeria is restructured to foster stability, peace and prosperity.

Dr. Okowa said his administration initiated 200 projects, out of which some have been completed and others are ongoing and expressed his commitment to complete all projects.

The Governor emphasized that, Delta would remain a PDP state, as it is the only party that demonstrates commitment to the overall wellbeing and welfare of the people.

The projects commissioned were the dual lane road linking Jesse town, rehabilitation of the Jesse Boburukun road in Ethiope-West Local Government Area as well as an ultra modern market in Sapele.
