FOUR HOUSE OF REPS CANDIDATES STEP DOWN FOR PDP CANDIDATE IN OGBIA FED CONSTITUENCY, BAYELSA STATE

Four candidates of various political parties for the House òf Representatives have stepped down and declared support for the Candidates òf the People’s Democratic Party for Ogbia Hon Fred Obua.

The Candidates, George Sinclair òf the Accord Party, Richard Ogole, Mega Party òf Nigeria, Victor Samuel, National Rescue Movement and Oribo Einstein of the Social Democratic Party, also resolved to work for the victory of the PDP Senatorial Candidate for Bayelsa East, Chief Izagara.

One of the candidates, Einstein, who spoke shortly after being received by the State Chairman of the People’s Democratic, Chief Moses Cleopas, said that while he still retained the membership of his party, the SDP, he took a decision to withdraw from the contest to support the PDP Candidates.

The State Chairman òf the PDP, Chief Moses Cleopas, received the Candidates in the presence of the PDP Candidate for the Ogbia Federal Constituency,Chief Fred Obua, and the party’s Senatorial Candidate for Bayelsa East, Blessing Izagara, on Thursday.

The candidates said that they decided to pull out of the race to back the candidates of the PDP because of their conviction that the candidates are credible, popular and have the capacity to give effective representation to the Ogbia people.

The PDP State Chairman commended the four candidates who gave up their political ambition to enhance the chances of the PDP at the polls.

He said that only politicians of conscience who are motivated by a desire for the common good would take such a critical decision after incurring a lot of cost at the campaigns.

Moses said further that the decision of the four candidates which came 24 hours after political leaders and stakeholders of Ogbia 1 Constituency endorsed the Presidential Candidate òf the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, and all the candidates of the party portrayed Ogbia as a people of honour and integrity.

He said that the Ogbia people had demonstrated capacity to show gratitude even at the sacrifice of personal political ambitions.

He said, “We have always said in this state that Bayelsa is the stronghold of the PDP in Nigeria and our leader, the Governor, the Honorable Henry Seriake Dickson, has said it repeatedly.

“It is indeed a great privilege to receive four of our illustrious sons who have dropped their ambitions to support the Candidates òf the PDP in the forthcoming elections.

“Politics is all about the general good and that, exactly, is what has happened here.”

SYLVA, A DESPERATE POLITICIAN UNDER THREAT FROM HIS CONSCIENCE - DICKSON

...SAY HE RUNS WHEN NOBODY PURSUES HIM The Bayelsa State Governor, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday described former Governor Timipre Sylva as an unpopular and desperate politician whose conscience remains his greatest threat. Dickson said in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media Relations, Mr. FIdelis Soriwei, that Sylva cuts the gnawing image of a troubled man screaming and fleeing at the sight of nobody. Dickson was reacting to a claim by Sylva that the governor was behind a plot to pitch the Chief òf Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari, against him through orchestrated media reports. Soriwei said that Governor Dickson is too involved and indeed occupied with the execution of the mandate the Bayelsa people gave to him, to be distracted by the hallucinations of a politician whose lifeline in politics was the state òf the mood of his political masters. The Governor’s media Aide said that it was queer and absurd that Sylva did not point to any p...
