The Governor stressed that being in different political platforms should not be allowed to cause division and disunity in the country.

He also said that Nigerians should exploit moments such as the helicopter incident assert their humanity.

He said, “I have heard about the crash-landing of the helicopter that was conveying the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and other passengers at Kabba, Kogi State.

“I join Nigerians to thank the  Almighty GOD for this great deliverance and the prevention of a tragedy that would have plunged this nation into mourning at this critical time.

“We should all thank God for sparing the lives of the Vice President, the other passengers and the crew for his mercies.

“In this country, we have a responsibility to see ourselves as brothers and sisters of a united family irrespective of differences in party platforms.

“Being in different parties should not make us see ourselves as enemies  or tear us apart. We should reinforce our common humanity in moments like this.”

“My family and I and indeed the Government and people of Bayelsa State hereby offer our best wishes and show gratitude to God for sparing life of the Vice President.”

It would be recalled that Governor Dickson is partly from the Fidipite ruling family of Ijebu Ode in Ogun State and refers to the Vice President as his Egbon, the Yoruba term for elder brother.

...SAY HE RUNS WHEN NOBODY PURSUES HIM The Bayelsa State Governor, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday described former Governor Timipre Sylva as an unpopular and desperate politician whose conscience remains his greatest threat. Dickson said in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media Relations, Mr. FIdelis Soriwei, that Sylva cuts the gnawing image of a troubled man screaming and fleeing at the sight of nobody. Dickson was reacting to a claim by Sylva that the governor was behind a plot to pitch the Chief òf Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari, against him through orchestrated media reports. Soriwei said that Governor Dickson is too involved and indeed occupied with the execution of the mandate the Bayelsa people gave to him, to be distracted by the hallucinations of a politician whose lifeline in politics was the state òf the mood of his political masters. The Governor’s media Aide said that it was queer and absurd that Sylva did not point to any p...
