LIFETIME PENSION FOR HOUSE MEMBERS PROPOSAL OFFICIALLY SUBMITTED

The members of the House of Assembly today met with Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, Governor of Bayelsa State at his country home in Toru Orua.

After condoling with him over the demise of his sister, issues bordering on the life pension for members of the house was raised to which an official statement will be published to that effect after the proposal for the bill has been officially submitted.

The proposed bill which has raised serious concerns across board was actually an already existing law, passed in 2003 by the Late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha's administration.

Contrary to the news being peddled, the bill is not an executive order issued Gov. Dickson but the amendment of an already existing law. Also the ammendment was not sponsored by the governor of bayelsa state and as such can only react if and only if there's a formal presentation of such proposal by the members of the house.

Report reaching us is that the proposal has been submitted and a response will be provided shortly.

However, after the private meeting with the members of the house, the governor entertained them with sugarcane directly from his farm. It was a refreshing and learning moment for some of the members as this was their very first attempt at harvesting sugarcane directly from the farm.LIFETIME PENTION FOR HOUSE MEMBERS PROPOSAL OFFICIALLY SUBMITTED
