Stop The Divisiveness In Ekeremor – Bayelsa West Frontier For Solidarity And Good Governance Warns

….Group Cautions Fred Agbedi
….Says Ekeremor is not Battle ground

The Bayelsa West Frontier for Solidarity and Good Governance has frowned at the recent political brouhaha in Bayelsa West Senatorial District, evidently initiated by the actions of the member representing the Sagbama / Ekeromor Constituencies in the House of Representatives, Hon Fred Agbedi in the recent meeting recent meeting held in Yenagoa on the 22nd of July, in the name of Ekeremor Elders and Leaders.

The group in a statement by its convener, Comrade Odogu Kerike condemned in strong terms the political actions by Hon. Fred Agbedi and some elders in Ekeremor, responsible for rocking the polity in Bayelsa West.

In his words; ‘Bayelsa West is blessed with great politicians and the region has been peaceful until the recent clamour for zoning by Hon. Fred Agbedi and some elders. In our opinion, the clamour is premature, evidently divisive and is not in the good interest of the Ekeremor people.

The group particularly expressed disappointment at the actions of Hon. Fred Agbedi, who is clearly one of the respected politicians in Bayelsa West and the state at large, having held very many political offices in Bayelsa. They said by virtue of his political credentials, he is expected to understand political timing and strategy but regrettably has not displayed his political expertise in the recent zoning episode’.

‘The needless rift and division this action has caused among our youths, women and elders the last few days is rather counterproductive especially considering the fact that elections are months away’.

‘Everyone one in Bayelsa West knows that there has never been a time in the history of the region where the said zoning agreement was respected. It therefore is shocking to find an experienced and respected politician like Hon. Fred Agbedi, to be in the centre of the zoning brouhaha’.

The group urged the law maker and all associated elders and leades to shun every effort targeted at fanning into flames, the already ignited zoning agitations in the district evidenced by the numerous and embarrassing signing and releases of catalogues of communiqué by various unassuming groups, in the media.

The group further stressed that there are already existing and effective political channels through which matters of this nature can be handled in a civilised and sustainable manner and wondered why the honourable representative would rather deliberately ignore these existing channels and choose the way of fruitless agitations.

The group finally used the opportunity to commend the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri for his admonition to all political appointees related to this brouhaha and urged other respected leaders in the region to caution their enthusiastic followers.
