Itsekiri People Most Marginalized In Nigeria’s Political Equation – Capt Memuduaghan

Prominent Itsekeri Son and former Director, Maritime Security in the office of the National security Adviser, Navy Captain Abel Memuduaghan (rtd) has called on the federal government to look into the Marginalization of the Itsekiri nation in the political equation of the country.

Speaking to Journalists on Thursday in Abuja, Capt Abel said as an ethnic group with over 2.5m population, the Iwere land produces more crude oil per head than any other ethnic group in Nigeria, thereby making it a major stakeholder in the Nigerian project.

He further said that despite the contribution of the Itsekiri Nation to the Nigerian economy, the Iwere people have consistently been treated like backwaters in the Nigerian political equation.

“Since 1999 no Itsekiri son or daughter has sat as a Senator in the National Assembly to speak for the Itsekiri people, and the only two Federal appointment they’ve ever had since then were Dr.Roland Oritsejafor, as Minister of state for Defense before being removed unceremoniously by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Barr. Temisan Omatseye, Director General, NIMASA, appointed by President Yar’adua also unceremoniously removed by President Goodluck Jonathan” he said

The Rtd. Senior Military officer further said “since the administration of President Jonathan till date, no Iwere son or daughter have been given appointment at the centre, either as a cabinet member, Ambassadorial, Service Chief, head of Agency or even senior Presidential aide’.

He therefore called on the Federal government ably led by President Muhammadu Buhari to right the wrongs by undoing this great Injustice against the Itsekiri nation, and consider not only qualified Indegenes of Iwere for appointment in his administration, but also assist in focusing more developmental projects to the people, who have continued to contribute greatly, to the socioeconomic development of the country.

The facility was reportedly built without a building permit as required by the Bayelsa State Physical Planning and Development Law (2015). The court had also directed the Commissioner of Police, the Commander of the Joint Task Force (JTF) and all security agencies to facilitate the enforc...

SYLVA, A DESPERATE POLITICIAN UNDER THREAT FROM HIS CONSCIENCE - DICKSON

...SAY HE RUNS WHEN NOBODY PURSUES HIM The Bayelsa State Governor, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday described former Governor Timipre Sylva as an unpopular and desperate politician whose conscience remains his greatest threat. Dickson said in a statement by his Special Adviser, Media Relations, Mr. FIdelis Soriwei, that Sylva cuts the gnawing image of a troubled man screaming and fleeing at the sight of nobody. Dickson was reacting to a claim by Sylva that the governor was behind a plot to pitch the Chief òf Staff to the President, Mr. Abba Kyari, against him through orchestrated media reports. Soriwei said that Governor Dickson is too involved and indeed occupied with the execution of the mandate the Bayelsa people gave to him, to be distracted by the hallucinations of a politician whose lifeline in politics was the state òf the mood of his political masters. The Governor’s media Aide said that it was queer and absurd that Sylva did not point to any p...
