Douye Diri: An emerging force in PDP

 By Samuel Peres

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has just emerged a strong force in the PDP following the successful conduct of the party's National Convention in Abuja. Deservedly, this silent 'hard worker' featured prominently in all processes including the political maneuvers and consensus that has led to the election of new leadership for the party under the chairmanship of former Senate President, Iyorchia Ayu, from Benue State. Indeed, a new power bloc has just emerged within the PDP and with every sense of pride and acknowledgment, Gov. Diri is at the forefront with other governors for the sagacity, maturity and administrative experience he brought to bare in the assignment as Deputy Chairman, 2021 National Convention Main Organising Committee.

He had a great and excellent work experience with the Convention Main Organising Committee Chairman, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State and the Convention Secretary, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. Truly, Senator Diri has emerged one of the new power blocs within the ranks of the PDP in a journey to rescue Nigeria. From North to West to East and South, Governor Diri of Bayelsa State has formed dependable alliances and true network of friendship across board. Most of the PDP Governors played very active and critical roles in liaising with key party leaders and stakeholders in achieving the many consensus for the success in the convention. The political horse-trade and certain tough decisions to get the party back on stream as well as put the Uche Secondus era behind were clearly daunting tasks he and other leaders cracked.

Gov. Douye Diri, has shown capacity and displayed strong spirit of a team player in the national assignment that has brought a new zeal and energy into the PDP to rescue Nigeria from bad leadership. Samuel Peres, is a member of the PDP and writes from Yenagoa.
