Rivers APC accepts to work with Wike, gives governor conditions

The All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State has declared its readiness to work with Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration to move the state forward. But the APC added a caveat that it will work with Wike if only the Governor will show some level of commitment on his extension of olive branch to members of other political parties. The APC maintained that the protection of lives and properties and development of Rivers people and its residents were top priorities of the party. Gov Dickson Declines Assent to Bill Seeking Pension for former Bayelsa State Legislators

The Governor òf Bayelsa State, the Honorable Henry Seriake Dickson, has declined assent to the bill seeking pension for former lawmakers from Bayelsa State as proposed and passed by the Assembly The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, quoted the Governor as having said that he conveyed the decision to decline assent to the Bill in a letter to the Speaker òf the Bayelsa State House òf Assembly on Monday. The Governor held consultations with the Assembly members in his country home of Toru-Orua, where he explained his reason for declining assent. Iworiso-Markson quoted the governor as having said that the bill was inconsistent with Section 124 of the Constitution òf the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. LIFETIME PENSION FOR HOUSE MEMBERS PROPOSAL OFFICIALLY SUBMITTED

The members of the House of Assembly today met with Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson, Governor of Bayelsa State at his country home in Toru Orua. After condoling with him over the demise of his sister, issues bordering on the life pension for members of the house was raised to which an official statement will be published to that effect after the proposal for the bill has been officially submitted. The proposed bill which has raised serious concerns across board was actually an already existing law, passed in 2003 by the Late Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha's administration. Bayelsa Starlets emerge third best at Africa Youth Cup

*Players, officials hail Gov. Dickson Bayelsa State-sponsored Restoration Starlets, on Saturday evening, came from behind to defeat Ivory Coast's Deportivo Academy 2-1 in the third place game of the Africa Youth Cup tournament. The match played at the beautiful Estadio National in Praia, the capital city of Cape Verde, saw the Bayelsa lads put up a sterling performance to the admiration of the crowd. Buruboyefe Commend Restoration Starlets Over Semi-Final Feat

Bayelsa State sports commissioner, Perekiye Buruboyefe, has given a pat on the back to the Restoration Starlets for moving ahead in the Africa Youth Cup tournament holding in Praia, Cape Verde. The Restoration Starlets despite losing their last group game 1-2 to Daraja Academy of Côte d’Ivoire landed in the semi-final courtesy of the four points they have so far garnered. Bayelsa's Restoration Starlets ended their second game in the ongoing Africa Youth Cup in Praia, Cape Verde, on a scoreless note against Deportivo Academy of Cote d'Ivoire. The tough and exciting game played at the Estadio De Sao Domingos was a showcase of beautiful African youth football as both teams gave a good account of themselves. Despite the draw, the Restoration Starlets still top the group with four points after two games. The gallant Bayelsa youths will play their last qualifying game on Tuesday against another Ivorian side, Daraja, at the Estadio Do Pensamento.

The Teibowei Diepreye tutored side silenced the home fans just five minutes into the game when gangling Alison William scored the first goal from the spot after being brought down in the 18 yard box by the Cape Verdian number 5.  Barely two minutes later William struck again with a glancing header from a corner kick floated in by Tarabina Beweriebo, the team's captian,  to put the BAYELSA lads two goals ahead . BAYELSA RECOVERS N1.8BN FROM ONGOING PUBLIC SECTOR REFORMS

Bayelsa State Governor, the Honourable Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday said the ongoing reforms in the state public sector was yielding positive results, as his administration has recovered about N2.2 billion annually through the exercise. Governor Dickson stated this during a meeting of Labour leaders, members of the Post Primary Schools Board and the Association of All Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), in Yenagoa. A statement by his Special Adviser on Media Relations, Mr. Fidelis Soriwei, stated that, the amount was saved from the ongoing verification exercise in the mainstream civil service and that of the post primary schools in the state. The Bayelsa State Executive Council has applauded the management of the state owned Niger Delta University for midwifing the successful accreditation of more courses by the National University Commission (NUC). The council at its 106th meeting said the development has again proved that the investment the government is making in the education sector is truly paying off. The Governor of Bayelsa State, the Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson, has offered automatic employment to 307 products of the Bayelsa State Scholarship Scheme who have concluded their doctorate degree and master degree programmes in various disciplines in universities across the world. A statement by the Special Adviser, Media Relations, Mr Fidelis Soriwei, on Sunday, quoted the Governor as having made declared automatic employment for 107 PhD holders and 200 MSC degree holders during a meeting with beneficiaries of the scheme in Yenagoa at the weekend. The Governor also announced automatic employment to all medical doctors, pharmacists and public health specialists and other beneficiaries of the State Scholarship Scheme who studied professional courses considered critical to the ongoing efforts to develop the state. Bayelsa Govt. seals off Agip facility

The Bayelsa State government has sealed the premises of Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) Oil and Gas facility, in Egbebiri, a Biseni Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The Chairman of Bayelsa State Physical Planning and Development Board, Hon. Ebi Waribigha, said the sealing of the facility followed an eviction order issued by the State Physical Planning and Development Tribunal in Yenagoa. The eviction order had granted the government of Bayelsa State leave to effect the eviction of Agip and all occupants of the premises to enable the Physical Planning and Development Board to conduct environmental, health, technical integrity and safety checks at the facility. The facility was reportedly built without a building permit as required by the Bayelsa State Physical Planning and Development Law (2015).
