IPAC, CUPP ACCUSE BAYELSA REC OF SETTING ASIDE INEC GUIDELINES ...SAYS HE HAS DISCARDED USE OF CARD READER IN ELECTION

Inter Party Advisory Council and Coalition of United Political Parties have accused the Bayelsa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Pastor Monday Tom Udoh òf working contrary to the guidelines of the Indepedent National Electoral Commission. The Chairman of CUPP, Chief Tari Edwin and his IPAC Counterpart, Eneyi Zidougha, alleged in a statement on Wednesday that the INEC REC in Bayelsa had demonstrated a brazen violation of the electoral guidelines in the country. The duo, in the statement they jointly signed called on the Chairman of the Indepedent National Electoral to redeploy the REC from the state for acting contrary to the stipulations of the electoral act.  Edwin and Zidougha said that the REC had demonstrated lack of integrity, capacity and courage to demonstrate the requisite impartiality in the electoral contest in Bayelsa. The Government House Photographer, Reginald Dei, who was shot by men in Army uniform in Oweikorogha, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area òf Bayelsa State, during the last Presidential and National Assembly elections has died. A statement by the Director Corporate Communications, Governor’s Office, Chief Nathan Egba-Ologo, stated that the photographer died after battling to survive the lethal wounds from the gunshots in a Yenagoa hospital on Sunday night. Dei was shot alongside the leader of the PDP in Oweikorogha community, Mr. Seidougha Taribi, while the duo were waiting for the outcome of the election in their ward at the politician’s residence. While Dei who was initially taken for dead survived the attack until Sunday night, Taribi died on the spot. ATTACK ON DCP KOLA OKUNOLA - MASTERMIND AND RINGLEADER ARRESTED

The Police have arrested Hon. Gov Dickson Inaugurates Panel on Electoral Violence in Bayelsa

                                                                  Bayelsa State Governor, the Honourable Seriake Dickson, on Wednesday, constituted a six-member Judicial Commission of Inquiry to identify perpetrators and sponsors of the violence that rocked the Presidential and National Assembly election in some parts of the state. While swearing in the members in Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Dickson said the commission was set up in line with provisions of section 2 (1) of the Commission of Inquiry Laws of Bayelsa State. He described the crisis that marred the election as unfortunate even as he expressed his determination to bring the perpetrators to book. NGOs Protest Fraudulent Election Results in Bayelsa

Members of various non-governmental organisations and civil society groups in Bayelsa State, on Wednesday, staged a peaceful protest over the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in some parts of the state. Comrade Toitoi Newton of the Grassroots For Development, who led the protest to the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Yenagoa, told journalists that the CSOs demand a cancellation of the purported results from Constituency 4 in Southern Ijaw council and Nembe-Bassambiri in Nembe council where election materials were carted away. According to Comrade Newton, elections did not hold in the seven wards of Nembe-Bassambiri due to the violence orchestrated by political thugs aided by security personnel deployed in the community. He said the people were disenfranchisised as they were chased away from their communities on the day of the election.
